Dear colleagues!

We kindly invite you to participate in the International Scientific and Practical Conference "History of Charity: Traditions and Expectations". The conference is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the St. Petersburg State Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired and will take place in St. Petersburg on April 7-8, 2022.

Cultural, educational, and scientific institutions, professionals, and philanthropists from Russian Federation and foreign countries are welcome to participate in our conference.

Following topics to be discussed at the forthcoming conference:

  • The main goals, objectives and forms of charitable activities and trusteeship;
  • The historical milestone achievements in the development of charity and trusteeship in Russia and in the world;
  • Creation the institutions to support and to patronize people with disabilities in Russia and in the world.
  • Charity as a type of philanthropy: patronage of art, collection of books and the other types of collections, creation of art galleries, theaters, etc.
  • Traditions of charity and trusteeship in the modern world.

The conference translation will be organized on-line through the Zoom platform for speakers, experts and stakeholders.
The conference is also broadcasted on the Library YouTube channel.
